I went to a cottage back in August. I got up early one morning, and the culture shock was imminent. I had not experienced such silence for a very long time. I came directly from Tokyo and to this. It was beautiful none the less, but silence like this should be eased into. I was dreaming of an overpacked Marunouchi-line and kaiten sushi for most of the week.

I met this handsome guy and all of his friends at a cottage back in August. He would eat peanuts out of my hand, jump all over me and then jump in the peanut bag to help himself. At one point he managed to run away with four peanuts, one in each cheek, biting down on one and holding the last one with his front legs.

Question: How many Canadian things can you fit into one post? A: A lot. Ottawa, Montreal, a cottage in the middle of nowhere, Vancouver, Niagara Falls and Toronto.
(If you are ever in Vancouver and want real Japanese food, check out the restaurant simply called “Izakaya” on Davis street. I had nama-kaki, delicious sushi and a fancy tonkatsu-tempura-plate.)
