Magnolia

I am not good at watching movies, unless the movies have an interesting opening scene so they catch my attention. Magnolia has a gorgeous opening scene imho, it could be a short film on its own.

I agree. Such an amazing intro!
Sometimes I wish I knew how to make movies. Or well, edit them. I have a lot of ideas for little movies and short-films, but it is scary to show face/voice/movement.
Ooh! I need to watch that movie.
It is quite long, but it is one of my favorites. I actually thought Tom Cruise did a good job in it (normally I dislike the guy), he was playing a sleezy guy holding workshops about how other guys could get in women’s pants. And then there is like a million other story lines in that movie, but I guess that requires a blog post on it’s own.
What are your favorite movies?
I’ve actually never seen this, because I don’t have the stomach for Tom Cruise. But it does looks very interesting just based on the intro. What other movies do you like? I’m very picky when it comes to movies, and although I am quite able to sit through a boring movie there are very few movies I’ve seen that I think are more than just ok.
Oh, I do not have the stomach for Tom Cruise either. When I was making this post – I was wondering if I was going to include that – saying that I do not like Tom Cruise, and this is one of the few movies where I actually did not mind him. He plays a macho guy holding self-help-workshops for other guys on how to get laid, and he is nasty and fairly disgusting, I thought this role suited him.
I am not good with new movies or new music either. Whenever people ask me what music or movies I like, I get this blank stare and my mind shuts down… I do have things I like, and even love, I swear, but I guess it is a mix of embarrassment and just having other interests which are stronger. It seems like when you tell people your favorite movie or song, they make all of these assumptions about you, because movies and music is so extremely important to them.
What is your favorite movie? 😉
