It’s Saturday. But I forgot to post this on Thursday, and I am in holiday-mode, so I am posting it now instead. I was looking through the archive, and I can not believe it has been five years since this picture was taken. Jeez. Time flies. I guess five years have left me with less eye makeup and less lipstick.

Aaahhh. A little over a month, and I can go back home. These past months have gone by so quickly, and quite frankly I am still not sure how I will be able to get everything done in time, but things have a magical way of working themselves out. Fingers crossed. I can not wait to actually have views like this a short train ride from my apartment again.

I don’t think I ever showed any pictures from Disneyland the last time I went? That time around I didn’t bring my camera, so all I have is a couple of keitai-pictures, but looking at them, I miss Japan. I wouldn’t recommend anyone going to Tokyo Disneyland for the rides, because the lines are insane, but if you like to take pictures, bring a camera and ignore all the rides and spoiled brats, and you will be fine 🙂

Went through the endless archives, and found more pictures from 2008. This garden is actually not in Japan, but in Norway, and you can visit it straight outside of Bergen. They have cute little Japanese statues and buildings, and it is quite funny to see it all with the Norwegian nature as a back-drop.

I have no idea why, but October looked a lot more colorful three years ago. If I recall correctly, there were several days involving both sun and a camera. Sigh.

… I still wore clothes that wasn’t black black black. I guess I went a bit overboard at times, but dressing up like you were going on stage every other day really gave me a boost! Looking at the picture I guess I get the same associations as everyone else get looking at old picture, a lovely mixture of embarrassment and tardy proudness. Kind of like “Wow, I can not believe I wore that. I can not believe I dared to wear something like that.” This kind of clothing style is not for me anymore, but I did enjoy finding these pictures.
…the weather was crazy. It was rainy and sunny and rainy and I caught a cold laying around in the damp grass taking pictures of water drops.
… I found bugs everywhere. Bumblebees, spiders, all kinds of insects. Snails and worms as well. I don’t think I have ever taken as many pictures of bumblebees in my entire life before or since. I think I did the whole spider-glass-paper-trick to toss the poor buggers out alive at least 30 times that summer.
… I felt childish and spent a couple of hours spying on random people. Good old fashion dress-up in a detective-like coat (bought secondhand and in remarkable condition still), equipped with a black moleskine notebook, and then.. tamtamtam… follow a random stranger around town for 30 min or so, plotting down what they were doing, taking pictures through the bushes. I thought it would be a remarkable experience, but I quickly I came to the conclusion that other people’s life were not as exciting as my own, and retreated to the coffee shop to draw in my moleskine instead of taking notes about strangers. It was probably the year where I first got back into drawing on a more serious level.
… and last, but not least, a lot of picnics in the park. Those crappy, 1-time-barbecue-tinfoil-monstrosities that I could never figure out how to use properly, overcooked sausages which tasted perfect in the sunset, strong wind and smokey eyes and wine with screw-caps. Nice June.

… it was 2006. I took pictures of Madeleine for fun.
… and was highly fascinated with the grain in magazines, snapping pictures of pictures.
… I loved lace and sparkly shoes. It is painful to look at outfit photos from this time. Glad to have grown up since then.
… The sun was actually shining a lot in May.
I must have eaten sushi at least one time.
And I must have had apple juice at a cafe which no longer exist.
And I was organsing huge piles of cheap photo prints to use as reference, now I think about how I could better have spent my money.
I spent a lot of time in coffee shops, drinking sparkling water and writing down random notes in notebooks.
… I lived dirt-cheap, but ate at expensive restaurants.
I also had grand meals at home.
I think this is the first time in my life I have actually started to look through the bottomless pit of photos in my archive. It is funny just how much is completely forgotten, maybe it is mostly for the best. Most of these pictures were taken with an old compact camera, it was my dear baby for several years, if I ever come across the same camera again, I would buy it in a second, despite it’s 3mpx and slow reaction time.
