This is what I love most about Japan. The fact that you can turn down a side street and all of a sudden find yourself on temple grounds. This temple is right in between Shinjuku san-chome and ni-chome. If you have ever been to the Golden Gai, it is right next that street.

Tokyo smells really nice these days. Fresh and clean and silent.

難し過ぎて、長過ぎるよ

今、日本語を勉強していますが何回も読んだのにまだわかりません。。。最近日本語の授業や宿題はドンドン難しくなると思います。

On Tuesday…

… I went window shopping at this store. I think I might have to go back and do some real shopping soon.

…I smelled the beautiful spring scent of Shinjuku, despite the traffic.

… they had closed the street for cars, and I walked down the middle of the street to buy new hair (pictures will come.)

… I wasn’t in a hurry, and noticed this parking garage for the first time, even though I have passed by these buildings many many times.

… I took pictures of little potted gardens outside random restaurants.

… I walked straight through Kabukicho and headed for Shin-Okubo in my mission to buy special coffee.

… I saw this sign, and I thought it was cute.

Recent eats

Look at the size of this thing! It isn’t mine, but when we went out a couple of days ago, someone at the same table ordered this one. I am still just completely in awe over the actual size of this thing. The place we were at was called “Lock-up”, and it is a prison/monster/haunted house theme restaurant, where the staff runs around and scare you once an hour.

And later this week we made burger at home. If you haven’t tried avocado on your burger, you totally should, it tastes superb!

And then I had a Sundae cup even though it wasn’t Sunday.

And impromptu snack plates when a friend popped over before heading out. I was surprised we actually had enough food in the fridge to put anything on the table. Speaking of nothing, the ham there is Japanese cured ham, and it tastes almost like prosciutto, but for about 1/3 of the price of prosciutto. WIN!
