December 23: A picture of your home

My apartment itself is nothing to call home about, but Tokyo is absolutely wonderful. This picture is from April this year, and you can see all the cherry blossom trees in the park in Shinjuku. I will always love this place.

hanami go!

These pictures are from early March, I went to Shinjuku Gyoen with some friends. And I love how all the Japanese people gathered around the first sign of spring, some small small cherry blossoms on the tree in the picture above. I am out of Japan now, and will not return until the end of May (because of my exams), and for the most part I feel ok about that, apart from missing hanami. It is my absolute favorite season in Japan. Oh well, there is always next year…

Yours truly + friends. I realize I do not post pictures of my face that often, and it is probably just because it is not that easy to take pictures of myself with SLR-cameras.

On the other hand, I could lay in hiding in the bushes in the park and spy on the other people and take pictures of them. Fun day!

大阪城

I still have so many pictures left over to post from the trip to Kyoto and Osaka a couple of weeks back. Some pictures of Osaka Castle. I was so happy to see some of the trees behind the castle in bloom already. This was early March, so I had not seen any cherry blossoms yet this year.

Going to a hanami-party!

Time here passes way to quickly! Last week we went to a small hanami-party in Shinjuku Gyoen. I have taken tons of pictures of the actual cherry blossoms, but I wanted to post them in a separate post. So for now, here is a little taste of the awesome April weather and a pictures of how crowded the park was when we were there a week ago.

First signs of hanami!

Isn’t this just gorgeous? Hanami-season is my absolute favorite time of year, and I just snapped these when I was in a hurry to get to school the other day. I will be back with more pictures of the cherry blossoms really soon, but wow, it just makes me so happy to walk down the street and see this. Everything feels lighter and warmer and I am just really happy.

Hanami is right around the corner

And I can not wait. This is not cherry blossoms though, but plum blossoms. I think? I am not good with botany, but they look pretty. I can not wait until all of Japan is colored pink for a couple of weeks again 🙂 It is my favorite time of year 😀

My 2010 – April

In April there was hanami. The cherry blossom trees were absolutely stunning, and I was walking around in a pink daze trying to take pictures of them all. Everywhere I went, it seemed like there was an even prettier tree with even more petals than the ones I had photographed already.

Hanami only lasts for a short time, and soon the ground was covered in petals.

And all the other flowers were really blossoming as well.

I never knew how many different kinds of cherry trees there were.

I found small temples and shrines and took pictures of the statues and flowers there as well. Tokyo is so busy, and then you enter through these gates, and all of a sudden everything goes quiet and peaceful.
